True Elegance

If you want to talk fashion and beauty and drop-dead elegance, you have to look at these John Singer Sargent portraits. Let's face it. If you had the money to hire him to do your portrait or your wife's portrait, he must have known he had to make you look good. Make that goddamn good.

Ever notice how a sort of hayseed guy and his wife get elected to national office and they look entirely different two years later? The man, usually the one elected, looks OLD. The wife, on the other hand, has stylists and makeup people and who knows what else and she looks FANTASTIC.

Compare this man and wife

to this glamorous couple

What am I trying to say? Sometimes, SOMETIMES people look better when they are older. And I confess more than two years elapsed between those two photos. Okay, let's try these two.

Very young

Old and Far More Stylish

Okay, so this proves that I badly need stylists and makeup "people" and advisors. Before it's too late.

NEWS FLASH: I am kitten-sitting for my daughter's mischievous pets. What will happen?

A bientot

love,
Becky

So if Hillary gets elected, it will be fascinating to see how the two of them look four years later -- will he get more youthful and stylish while she gets that drained look Presidents all get? Whatever happens to him, I'm sure she'll look older as they all do -- it's a clear sign that whether you're a great President or a not, there are a lot of long hard stressful hours, and that job wears you out.

I must agree, sm1.

Some presidents look truly haggard. I thought GB Senior did when he left.

After only four years, too!

I had a thought about the michievous kittens -- you could start them on a training program to channel their energy towards squirrels. Start with a fuzzy little toy squirrel for them to shred. Here's one with catnip in it, for that extra level of frenzy!

Throughout my childhood we had a cat who was named Mischief, though usually called Missy except when she was in trouble. I don't remember her being all that mischievous, really, though I was a toddler when she was a kitten, so I don't remember her earlier years. Good name though.

I was just noting how haggard that formerly q. good-looking (if you go in for that particular look) British PM looks now ...

Kittens are fun. At least these ones are not your - you can give them back!

The comments link is down on my blog ... I'm hoping it will right itself ... It's 3.51 a.m over here right now - it's one of my insomnia nights / mornings.

(Oh, whoops -- I didn't mean anything by the name comment, honest.)

Also, I should give George credit for 8 years as Veep... who was the last one to be there 12 years in a row?

Hillary must have to pass the Obama test 1st....Because that's the only real obstacle in front of her...Otherwise Republicans seems all set for the warm exit....
